Primary Care In the first phase of coverage (Primary Care), Bahamians will receive a number of health services free of cost.

Primary Care NHI Bahamas in its initial phase of coverage will cover Primary Health Care services. Persons will not have to pay at point of service for Primary Care, including no copay, deductible or new tax when enrolled with a Primary Health Care Provider, either in the public or private sector.

NHI Policy Paper for modern, affordable and accessible National Health Insurance This is a policy paper about affordability and equitable access to quality health care services. It presents a framework for establishing the first modern, planned and comprehensive National Health Insurance programme for The Bahamas and is a statement about advancing the social contract that exists between our people and our country. The shared belief in Universal Health Coverage-the principle that eligible legal residents of The Bahamas should have equitable access to affordable, high-quality medical care irrespective of their socio-economic status, personal health history or where they reside-is a national value our Government holds dear.
